Visit NC at Great Trails Conference
Visit NC's Wit Tuttell and Amanda Baker participated in the annual Great Trails State Conference in Winston-Salem. The conference brought together more than 300 trail planners, designers and builders, recreational professionals, community and elected leaders, tourism partners, and others from across the state to learn and share best practices to advance trail and greenway development and promotion throughout North Carolina. Baker presented during the “Trails for All” and “Balancing Resources Protection with Recreational Use” sessions, discussing the Outdoor NC Accessible Outdoor program and toolkit aimed at assisting individuals in making informed decisions about exploring NC’s outdoor spaces based on their own
abilities. She also discussed the Outdoor NC Trail Town program as a destination stewardship case study. Tuttell provided a Visit NC agency update alongside NC Dept. of Natural and Cultural Resources, NC Dept. of Transportation and NC‘s Outdoor Recreation Economy Office to close out the conference.
Visit NC channels Nomadness spirit
Visit NC’s André Nabors and Suzanne Brown participated in last week’s Nomadness Fest, a gathering of travelers devoted to a reimagined experience for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) travelers. During the Charlotte Regional Visitor Authority-sponsored event, Nabors and Brown met with writers, influencers and tour organizers at Industry Day sessions and other activities. Visit NC co-hosted a dinner prepared by Serving the Culture, a special event pop-up featuring African American chefs, culinarians and mixologists, at 3rd and Fernwood, a new venture from James Beard-nominated chef Gregory Collier. The dinner celebrated North Carolina’s music heritage with décor and a playlist celebrating Anthony Hamilton,
Thelonious Monk, Rapsody and a host of other celebrated musicians. Festival workshops covered BIPOC communities, storytelling, AI and tips for travelers.

Dishes are presented on handmade pottery; jazz tunes set a mellow ambience.”
