FilmNC hosts Production Office Workshop
The N.C. Film Office hosted more than 40 participants for a two-day Production Office Workshop earlier this month at Dark Horse Studios in Wilmington. The workshop was led by UNC School of the Arts alumni Jennifer Haire and Gilana Lobel, two producers who have also co-authored the book “Keys to the Production Office: Unlocking Success as an Office Production Assistant in Film & Television.” Participants represented five of the state’s eight Prosperity Zones.
The workshop gave insight into entry level positions available as a Production Office Assistant and how that position might lead to other opportunities in film and television production. The workshop included both lecture-style sessions as well as hands-on activities. It concluded with a chance for participants to meet actual N.C.-based production office crew as part of a closing panel. Participants who successfully completed the workshop will be able to register in the Film Office’s statewide film resource directory and list their participation on their profiles.
Research shows excitement for leisure travel nearing record levels, trips increasing
Recent data from Future Partners (formerly Destination Analysts) reports that excitement for leisure travel is nearing record levels and the number of trips that travelers are taking is increasing as well. About 24 percent of travelers expect to take five or more leisure trips for the next year, up from 19 percent a year ago.
Excitement for travel appears to be elevated across age groups and geography. Higher income groups have slightly higher excitement than others.
Visit NC will be providing frequent research updates through NewsLink with links to available studies.
