*NEW* Northstar Meetings & Conventions Program

Visit North Carolina is teaming up with Northstar Meetings Group to offer our partners the opportunity to participate in up to three (3) virtual tradeshows between October and December. Official dates of the tradeshows are TBD and will be announced at a later time. Two of the virtual tradeshows will be with state and regional planners and the third tradeshow will be for national planners. All of these shows will include partners from association, corporate, independent and SMERF planners.

The total price per partner for this program if a partner wants to participate in all three (3) shows would start at $6,000 and the investment amount would decrease as more partners opt-in to this opportunity (pricing based on six partners per show). The price per show is $2,000 and the investment amount would decrease as more partners opt-in to this opportunity (pricing based on six partners per show).

Program deliverables:
  • Full list of planners to all partners pending GDPR authorization in reg
  • 8 Round Robin Appointments with 2-3 planners per appointment session

Video Production - SOLD OUT

The Video Production program is available to partners for $8,000 per video. Partners will receive a :60-:90-second safety promotional video which can be used for all marketing purposes, including social media, websites, broadcast and for display at Visitor Centers, meetings and conferences.

Partners will also have access to B-roll footage for additional marketing needs and the completed video will also be posted on the partner's listing on VisitNC.com at no charge (a $200 value).

Bill Russ and Mark Forester, partners in Travel Video NC, have extensive experience producing photo and video imagery for the tourism industry in North Carolina. Since the Video Production program became available five years ago, they have worked with attractions, CVBs and Economic Development agencies across the state.


Miles DMO Support Programs

Local Business Support Program

Traveler sentiment research is aligning around one particular theme: inspiring consumer confidence that destinations and businesses are open and following best practices for health and safety is key to success right now. There is an opportunity to use tools from Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor to ensure consumers can find the latest information in order to support economic recovery in the time of COVID-19.

The program is particularly relevant as a proactive approach to help communities rebound from the impacts of COVID-19. It can enable impacted communities to have their best foot forward, digitally, as travel resumes at full capacity and further assist in economic recovery.

The program is open to eligible DMOs in North Carolina and has two components:

  • Evaluation of Businesses - The goal of this evaluation is to provide the DMO with a clear understanding of how the tourism businesses in their community are, or are not, leveraging the communication tools available in Google, TripAdvisor and Yelp to encourage safe and responsible travel.
  • Business Training & One-on-One Support - The goal of this initiative is to engage businesses to use the free online tools available to proactively communicate with both visitors and local customers about their operations, safety procedures and participation in the Count on Me NC program.

EVALUATION OF BUSINESSES

  • The participating DMOs and Miles will have a kick-off call to review the process, timeline and deliverables for both teams.
  • DMO provides a list (name, address, phone, website) of the businesses to be evaluated
  • Miles will audit the businesses’ representation in the following platforms:
    • Google Business Profile
      • Match businesses to their listing and identify any missing key business data (address, phone, website address, hours)
      • Identify whether the business listing has been claimed
      • Identify whether the business in marked permanently or temporarily closed, if applicable
      • Identify whether the business has an active Post
    • TripAdvisor – Accommodations
      • Identify whether accommodations have posted a health & safety update in TripAdvisor
    • Yelp – Accommodations
      • Identify whether the business listing has been claimed
      • Identify whether the business listing has a custom COVID update
    • Yelp – Restaurants
      • Identify whether the business listing has been claimed
      • Identify whether the business listing has a custom COVID update
      • Identify when hours were last updated, if noted

BUSINESS TRAINING & ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT

Miles will assist the DMO to support local businesses with educational resources, as well as one-on-one assistance with claiming and managing their business profiles. DMO would be responsible for outreach to their local businesses to share the following resources:

  • Claiming Google Business Profiles
    • All businesses who are unclaimed in Google will be run through MyBusiness Provider to generate a token with which the business can claim their listing.
    • Tokens will be distributed to the businesses by the CVB team. Miles will provide suggested copy for outreach as well as PDF instructions for the business. Tokens are valid for 90 days from creation.
  • Virtual Training Workshops & Resources
    • DMO-branded fact sheets for businesses focused on how to distribute safe and responsible travel messaging via the Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor platforms.
    • Two one-hour instructional sessions for local businesses. Recordings of the sessions will be provided for distribution to those who could not attend.
      • COVID-19 Recovery Framework for Tourism and Hospitality Businesses

This session covers tactical tips and best practices across a variety of free digital tools that tourism and hospitality businesses can use to help inspire confidence with consumers who are traveling during and after the pandemic. Research shows that consumer purchases are heavily influenced by health and safety considerations at the moment, particularly as it relates to travel. Businesses can take advantage of free tools available within Google My Business, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Facebook in order to proactively share information with customers, including the Count On Me NC training and procedures they have under taken. These proactive efforts can help businesses maximize their exposure within influential consumer-facing platforms and generate incremental business at a time when it matters most.

      • Online Reputation Management and Virtual Customer Engagement Tools

More than 80% of consumers look at reviews for a product or business prior to making a purchase, however, many businesses are not proactively managing their presence online. Across popular platforms such as Google My Business, Yelp, TripAdvisor and Facebook there are tools and features that businesses can use to manage their online reputations and create opportunities for direct engagement with potential customers, including Questions & Answers, Direct Messaging, Review Management, building followers in GMB, sharing inspiring social media content, and more. This session provides an overview of tools across different platforms and covers best practices for responding to different types of reviews and comments in order to help businesses make a great first impression online, and develop more meaningful virtual relationships with customers.

  • Office Hours with Miles’ Specialist
    • Businesses can book one-on-one sessions with Miles’ Program Specialist for assistance with claiming their Google Business profile or other questions surrounding GMB, Yelp and TripAdvisor. Miles will help resolve issues with Google directly.
    • 8 hours are allotted for this effort, which will serve at least 30 businesses.
  • Local Marketing Academy
    • VisitNC is currently providing the Local Marketing Academy education portal to all participating DMOs, an online library of educational and how-to materials specifically created for distance learning by tourism businesses (but applicable for other business types). Content is added regularly by the Miles Partnership team of subject area experts.
    • The library contains a collection of more than 100 how-to documents, materials videos, tools and links around getting the most from Google My Business, as well as many other facets of digital marketing for businesses.
    • NEW! Articles have been added that are specific to COVID-19 response via platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor and social media.
    • NEW! Businesses that sign up for the Academy will be able to track their progress through the content and earn “badges” for the quantity of content they engage.
    • NEW! Academy contains a “Ask a Question” feature where businesses can have their individual questions addressed by the Miles team.

Local Guide Set Up & Proactive Edits

For DMOs who have not previously participated in the Google DMO Program, Miles will provide the first steps in optimizing the destination's presence by improving the completeness of local business listings and contributing the DMO’s high-quality visual assets to Google to help best reflect the market. This includes:

  • Google DMO Partnership Program Registration
    • Miles will establish a Google account email address and password for the DMO for the program. (DMO has option to use existing Google account)
    • Miles to register the DMO into the Google DMO Partnership Program
    • Miles to set up Google Local Guide account using the DMO’s Google account
  • Google Business Listing Update
    • Miles will research and submit missing data updates and identify missing locations on behalf of the DMO using the Local Guide account to improve the completeness and quality of the destination’s representation.
  • Visual Content Submission
    • The DMO will provide up to 100 images to which they own full rights, and Miles will submit these images to their corresponding location (s) on Google Maps. Views of these images across all of Google’s products can be measured by the DMO via the established Local Guide account.
  • DMO Team Training
    • To ensure that the DMO’s team is prepared to take action after the initial activation, Miles will provide webinar training to the DMO’s staff which will cover tactical training on use of the tools and resources available to DMOs including:
      • DMO Partnership Knowledge Base
      • DMO Issue Report Form
      • Google Pixel phone (provided to the Organization by Miles & dedicated to the Organization’s account)

      • Google Local Guides
    • Available reporting metrics and results of Activation to date
