Visit NC and Atlas Obscura produce ‘Podcast: Brown Mountain Lights’
In collaboration with Atlas Obscura, Visit NC commissioned “Podcast: Brown Mountain Lights.” The podcast, which went live yesterday (Wednesday), showcases the unique – and a bit spooky and surreal – nature of the Brown Mountain Lights in the Pisgah National Forest of Burke and Caldwell counties. Hitting on a trend of fact and fantasy to drive year-round visitation to this part of the state. Visit NC worked with Atlas Obscura Podcast to add a layer of appeal and intrigue to an area of the mountain region that is beautiful, serene and lesser known.
The custom podcast episode features host Dylan Thuras as he tells the story of the area and the experience that can only be found in North Carolina. The AO Podcast is the #1 Travel podcast with 22 million total podcast listen; 86% of listeners have taken action on the AO podcast's ads. Promotional posts of the podcast episode, including email inclusion, will further reach the AO audience.
Roadside Attractions has acquired the U.S. rights to the NC-filmed comedy "Summer Camp," slated for release in theaters on May 31. Per the NC Film Office, the production filmed last year in Henderson, Buncombe and Swain counties; it had a direct in-state spend of more than $11.2 million. “Summer Camp” tells the story of three women (Diane Keaton, Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard) who have remained friends after becoming inseparable at their childhood summer camp. As they risk drifting apart, the three agree to go back to the woods for the camp’s upcoming reunion.
